![]() What is it: An award-winning remote conferencing and collaboration software. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the alternatives to cineSync and see what they offer. This means that everyone in the session needs to download the media being discussed cineSync’s main job is essentially to sync playback of the timelines between all parties. No workflow streaming for real-time edits. If you’re looking for more robust video editing, communication, and collaboration tools or to replace cineSync, read on and see some of the other players in the remote collaboration arena.Īccording to some reviews and users, there are quite a few features missing from cineSync. However, larger production companies and those with many stakeholders that are seeking true interactive collaboration may be frustrated with some of cineSync’s limitations. It also may work better with smaller production teams that don’t need to have a lot of dialogue or back-and-forth. It also boasts of its ease of use and interactive annotation, letting collaborators markup frames or images to leave notes.ĬineSync Pro is said to integrate with Shotgun and fTrack Studio, its popular production tracking software and may be a good choice for those already familiar with its workflow. We already have a company wide subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud so Frame.io is a no-brainer.CineSync is an award-winning collaboration tool that bills itself as “the world’s most trusted review and approval system.”īuilt by Cospective (an fTrack company) for the entertainment industry, cineSync claims to be the only tool that allows you to share high-quality video in real time and is perfectly in sync from anywhere in the world it is being watched. There are other cloud services such as Hightail but Frame.io's mark-up tools are at this point the best we've used. We haven't fully investigated CO on the iPad so if there's a way for a client to remotely (not on set) make mark-ups with out needing anything other than a web browser and internet connection I'll have to take a closer look at it. I don't think that's available in any Capture One product. But actual mark-ups made remotely by a client? Where the only tool requirement is access to a web browser and internet connection. Using CO LIVE allows clients to add a color tag or star rating. Yes, annotations are available in Capture One itself and are made on-set by the shooter, AD, or a DIT. the main customer base? Are some of their tools a bit bloated or not feature rich enough? ![]() One can easily write annotations using CO and send via a cloud service provider, what does Frame.io offer that I haven’t already got ?Īren't professional photo/video/advertising/design/pre-press companies Adobe's, Capture One's, Phase One's, etc. Seems like Frame.io - aka ADOBE are going down the same subscription route and yet neither company understand their customer-base! I mentioned Atomos coz 80% of their customers are independents and yet they will never purchase the full cloud service based upon cost. Seems to be that the latest “trend” for video/audio and now still photography is to use a subscription based cloud service.Ītomos “tried” and failed miserably, don’t even get all the functionality. What’s the difference between CO LIVE vs Frame.io? If it’s just annotations then CO can easily support this via their iPad app for CO. So based upon what you’ve just explained this service from Frame.io is for studio work - ONLY!Īnd yet, there’s only two cameras that support this service from Fuji. ![]() As for annotations, Capture One already offers this in their software for years now! I’m already using Frame.io for video C2C, along with Atomos Cloud Studio. The only thing we all wished it did was offered the ability to do mark-ups like Frame.io. We've been using Capture One Live since it's been available and have found it works well. I miss the days when there was an AD on set making approvals with Polaroids.) Plain and simple, it's a horrible, slow, and inefficient way to work. I can't tell you how awful it is to try and interpret client notes from emails. Almost all of our clients (art directors) work remotely. We shoot stills tethered to Capture One, have fast up and down WiFi, and fast ethernet. We're a commercial photo and video production company that shoots a very high volume of work. It's very, very helpful and speeds up post-production. We'll post a video to Frame.io's cloud, and clients make time-synced comments and do time-synced mark-ups. We don't use that service, but many commercial video/film production companies do. Frame.io also supports camera to cloud for video production. We use Frame.io's service for client review of video post-production.
